What do you classify as a “nerdy” book anyways? What usually comes to mind are textbooks. But I did read one book…well okay I halfway read it, and I am not sure that counts, but that’s the only thing that comes to mind. So here it is:
“Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant–in the blink of an eye–that actually aren’t as simple as they seem.”
Basically the book gives scientific and anecdotal evidence on why rapid cognition can be both a good and bad. Truthfully, I don’t why I even read this in the first place because I was unsure of what to expect out of it. Maybe I wanted a load of overbearingly factual information (even when I probably don’t understand the majority), numbers and statistics covering every page because it’s research – and in between some fancy neuroscience jargon. Or maybe I wanted just some indication that this book would make me more knowledgeable in something, so I can proudly talk about it to my friends. Well whatever, it is the book didn’t do so much for me in terms of keeping me interested. I guess these type of books are just not for me.
